LOVE IS, A Daring Jamaican Comedy!
Boldly confronting issues of race, class and politics in Jamaica, LOVE IS revolves around a rural family who, over the course of a weekend-visit from old friends (and unexpected enemies); finds their simple life thrown into turbulence and hilarious upheavals. As his wife (Shirley Parkinson Wright) struggles with day-to-day matters, Albert (played by CART Executive Director Rudolph Shaw) turns to modern means in a quest to recapture his youthful vigor. As chaos swirls about them, their son Jonathan longs to be a poet instead of a farmer. He hurries to finish his entry to a prestigious poetry contest, in hopes of winning the grand prize, leading to fame--and an escape from mundanity.
Masterfully directed by AUDELCO Award-winner Fulton C. Hodges, LOVE IS cast members include MJonathan Eddy Duran, Swavian Loney, Simone Black, Kenya Wilson. Technical direction, as well as the quirky, colorful Production Design are by TLW Executive Director Marlon Campbell.
